Vietnam

In Vietnam, the prices of large and small sizes of white prawns increased, while the prices of medium sized prawns fell. After falling last week, the price of 30 bars rose by $0.42 to $7.25/kg. According to our sources, the price increase for 30 bars is due to reduced supply of this size. The price for 100 bars edged up by $0.08 to $3.96/kg. The price of 60 bars fell a further $0.17 to $4.64/kg this week, mainly due to an oversupply of this size.

Prices of black tiger prawns of all sizes fell this week. The price of 20 bars continued its downward trend for the third week in a row, reaching $12.65/kg, $1.27 lower than last week. Prices for 30 and 40 strips fell by $0.63 and $0.21 to $9.91/kg and $7.38/kg, respectively. According to our sources, the price drop in various sizes is due to lower demand for BTS from end markets, resulting in fewer black tiger prawns being sourced by factories.
